That BBD&O ad man Francis Hatch Jr. loved the Old Howard is a fact.  His devotion was deep, as evidenced by his participation in the ill-fated "Save the Old Howard Committe" and his part in the placement of the commemorative plaque that still sits in Pemberton Square.  Frank went so far as to preach his devotion in an homage - a plea, really to save her from the wrecking ball - which was published in the July 1960 issue of Yankee Magazine.  The article was later reproduced by The Boston Five Cents Savings Bank.  We are pleased to be able to present that booklet here, in its entirety.

Look at this remarkable photograph above, perhaps the only known photograph
of the theater taken FROM THE STAGE!

We are indeed indebted to Andrew McLellan (the source of the booklet) for giving us
the opportunity to present it to you on this web site.  Thanks, Andrew!
