Links and software for the shack

It starts and ends with the antenna.  My new favorite software is EZNEC, an easy-to-use antenna modelling software package which comes in a freeware version that will model dipoles and other basic antennas.

A brilliant collection of software that can control your radio, do digital communication (such as PSK31, RTTY, and Olivia), map your contacts, and even log the contacts.

I control the Icom 718 with HRD via a CI-V serial interface from xggcomms.com. To transmit and receive digital modes through the Icom I chose the SignalLink USB from Tigertronics.  I highly recommend both companies and their products.

Okay, so maybe I'm just a cheapskate, but I can't understand why every ham isn't using either (or both) eQSL and LOTW, both FREE electronic QSL services.  And now, with WD5EAE's brilliant software, uploading to LOTW is as easy as one click of the mouse.

You probably got to this page from one of these two terrific sites.  HRD is integrated with QRZ, an invaluable tool for identifying and logging QSOs, and I have personally bought and sold ham gear with eHam.  I encourage you to support both sites any way you can.

Here are links to some invaluable articles.
